Hitting a Home Run with 3D Retirement Art
One Of A Kind had a ball creating 3-dimensional art to honor the retiring EVP of Sales and Marketing at Iridium Communications, a global satellite communications giant based out of McLean, Virginia. (The DMV tech hub is a close neighbor to our studio!)
Beloved by his team, the honoree was known for his sports analogies and humorous quotes. This provided the perfect opportunity to include miniature 3D sports equipment such as a golf club, pickleball paddle created by our model maker, and football helmets. Clustered around a dedication “home” plate are favorite teams.
For the centerpiece, the recipient raises a 3D helmet proudly, showcasing the company’s logo and satellites’ constellation architecture. A 3D satellite replica hovers nearby, and a conference lanyard winds through the art, displaying key stats and career achievements. Group photos convey the team comradery.
Enclosed in a black frame with gold stripe, the art features satin silver sides and a night sky background. Discover the photoengraved borders for a chuckle—with many colorful quotes to capture, the border provided an excellent opportunity to display them in a subtle yet striking way.
Also represented in 3D: Iridium’s main markets. A bronze container ship for maritime, underscoring the GMDSS service provider accomplishment. A helicopter for aviation, flying near the ribbon’s end. And construction vehicles appear throughout the art.
A travel vignette closes out the story for this global flier, complete with a 3D United Airlines plane, globe and passport.
For a true team builder. Enjoy the 19th hole.
